Our Board


The Foundation has a volunteer Board of Directors made up of parents, alumni, teachers, staff, and other interested community leaders.

 

Officers


Helen Chapman, President

Helen has two sons who graduated from Lincoln High School–one in 2003 and other in 2008. Helen currently serves and the Foundation’s Board President. She enjoys giving back and assisting the staff and students at Lincoln who helped support her sons. Helen believes that Lincoln High School is an asset to the neighborhood.  

 

Zeke Garcia, Vice President

Zeke is a Lincoln High School Alumni, graduating in 1965. Zeke currently serves at Vice President of the Lincoln Foundation. As an Alumni of Lincoln High School, Zeke strongly believe in the values of education. Zeke serves to make a difference and support the many Educational Programs that are offered to students. Zeke is a key contributor for the overall direction and strategy of the Foundation, working to support its efforts and goals in Fundraising to support the Educational needs of the school.

 

Rachel Bata, Secretary

Rachel is an alumnus of the Class of 1993 and has been a member of the Foundation board since 2016. Rachel is a past president and vice-president and currently serves as the Foundation secretary and as a member of the Executive Committee, as well as being a part of the Program Committee and running the annual Classroom and Department Grants programs. 

Rachel organizes the Poinsettia fundraiser every year and participates in various sub-committees for bylaws and the website. The annual support that Lincoln Foundation provides to Lincoln High, its students, staff, and the community at large is immeasurable, and Rachel truly loves being able to make a difference at the school and to help contribute to Lincoln High School being a world-class educational facility.

 

Kevin McCoy, Treasurer

Kevin has three sons who graduated from Lincoln High School, and who was President of the Music Booster program while they were there. One son taught at Lincoln for 6 years. Kevin is currently the treasurer of the Foundation and is a mentor with the future vision program.

Janet Akin

Janet is a member of the Lincoln High School Class of 1972. Janet is a member of the Future Vision Mentor Program and has served as the Development Committee Chair, Vice President, President, and Program Committee Chair. Janet serves to provide mentorship to Lincoln students and to give back to the school and community.

Marc Contreras

Marc is an alumnus of Lincoln High School. Marc currently serves on the Fundraising Committee. Marc serves the Lincoln High School Foundation to give back to the school he enjoys so much.

 

Hon. Alden Danner

 

 

Marla Duino Lenz

Marla graduated from Lincoln in 1959. Her excellent education allowed her to attend San Jose State University and earn a degree in Elementary Education and Speech/Hearing. Marla taught for over 40 years in the Union School District at the elementary level. 

Marla have served as President of the Board and supported all its activities. She provides scholarships to students who wish to attend San Jose State University and has been a mentor for Future Vision Mentor program. Marla believes it is a privilege to give back to Lincoln by making sure future generations will find success in their goals and aspirations.

Oreen Gernreich

Oreen's affiliation with Lincoln High School began in April of 1990 when she was named principal.  She served in that capacity until her retirement in 2002. In September of 1990 she was approached by Phil Hammer and John Flaherty to see if she would be interested in working with them to start a Foundation for Lincoln.  

Oreen has served as president of the Foundation, but presently serves as chairperson for event planning and fund raising. She is also involved in recruiting new members to serve as Board members.

"I serve Lincoln as a Board member because I have a great love for the school and the outstanding work we have done as an organization.  I was fortunate as principal of Lincoln to work with some outstanding educators and students who loved the school and still serve their Alma Mater."

James Hamner

James is a graduate of the Class of 1962. James has served as the Board Treasurer and participates in most all Foundation events. He believes in the Foundation's philosophy in supporting the students of Lincoln High School and the phenomenal way they in which it provides support to the school.

Aaron Lilly

Aaron is a member of the Lincoln High School Class of 2002 and serves as a Board member of the Lincoln High School Foundation because of the lasting impact Lincoln High School had on his life. Aaron currently serves on the Fundraising Committee. 

Aaron believes that the opportunities, mentorship, and education he received helped shape who he is today. By serving on the board, Aaron wants to ensure that current students have access to the same enriching experiences and resources he had so they too can thrive both academically and in their future endeavors. Aaron currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Lincoln High School. 

 

Douglas Moore

Douglas graduated from Lincoln High in 1956.

 

Liz Neely

Liz is a graduate of the Class of 1993 and currently teaches English at Lincoln High School. She serves on the Fundraising Committee and also does flower arrangements for the various events. Liz started the school garden, which is supported by the Foundation. 

Liz serves on the Foundation to give back to students at Lincoln and believes that Lincoln is a very special place that serves a very diverse group of students. Lincoln offers many different programs to meet students where they are and help them grow into the leaders of tomorrow. 

 

Richard H. Nguyen

Richard Nguyen is a coach with Lincoln's mock trial team. Additionally, he spearheaded the launch of the Thinkin' Lincoln program and the AMK Memorial Scholarship. 

Richard values giving back to the school that gave him so much when he was a high school student. He believes serving on the Foundation is joyful work because he gets to make a difference by collaborating with wonderful people.

 

Noëlle Rábago

Noëlle Rábago, a proud member of Lincoln's class of 1998, serves on the Lincoln Foundation as a board member at large and contributes to the fundraising committee. 

Dedicated to giving back to the school that shaped her, Noëlle believes Lincoln offers a unique environment that supports a diverse group of students, fostering lifelong skills and confidence. 

With both of her children, from the classes of 2021 and 2023, also part of the Lincoln legacy, Noëlle is committed to ensuring today’s students have the same opportunities to thrive.

 

Tyler Silva

 

 

Chan Thai PhD, MPH

Chan is an Alumni of the Class of 1999 and currently serves as a member-at-large and supports communication and fundraising efforts. Chan believes that Lincoln contributed to her development as a young person, helping her build a strong skill set in preparation for college and, more importantly, confidence in herself. Chan participated in student government, tennis, mock trial, and choir at Lincoln High School, allowing her to discover her passions. 

 

Craig Travis

Craig is a member of class of 1972 and has served on the Foundation’s Board since 2015. Criag has served as Vice President, President, and member of the Executive Committee.  Currently and currently serves on the Development Committee. Craig continues to serve the Foundation to give back to the Lincoln High School community.

 

Raymond Umeda

Raymond is a Lincoln High School alumni and currently serves the Foundation as the Communications Committee Chairperson and as the Speaker Series Coordinator.  Dr. Umeda serves the Foundation and its many beneficiaries to provide the best possible educational experience for public schools and his alma mater.

 

Joann Williams

Joann is a Lincoln High School Alumni, graduating as a member of the Class of 1965, and is the proud grandmother of two recent Lincoln High School graduates. Joann is a member of the fundraising committee and helps manage the donor wall inscriptions. She feels that it is an honor to be a member of an organization that uses it resources for the benefit and enrichment of the students of Lincoln High School.

Paul Kanter

Paul is a retired educator from Lincoln High School. He has served on many projects over the last 28 years, including writing the curriculum for the first Future Vision Mentor Program classes. Paul continues to serve on the Foundation’s Board to help raise funds for school and classroom projects.

Cecily Zazueta

Cecily is mother of two children who graduated from Lincoln in 1986 and 1988. She has been a member of the Board since 2012 and has served as a mentor on the Future Vision Mentoring Program and as the Board Secretary for three years. Cecily believes that the Foundation is a wonderful organization that assists the Lincoln High School students and faculty with awards, special needs, and projects and especially with mentoring and support.
